Last night after going to a few of our CityReach sites for their ‘Prayer & Prep’ meetings I caught the end of the service with our CityReach Missions Trip students. As we were singing one particular worship song, I really felt God speak something to me regarding this week’s outreaches. The bridge of the song, which is also found in 1 Corinthians, was ‘Death, where is your sting? Grave you have no hold on me!’
Not to be over spiritual, but as we sang that line of the song a number of times, I felt God speaking to me that Satan has a strangle hold on many of the communities that are hosting CityReach this year: Ambridge, North Side, Sharpsburg, Tarentum, West View. They are essentially dead communities. There are minimal signs of life. And in knowing that, our role this week of CityReach is to proclaim life where there is death. We are to proclaim, ‘Death where is your sting? Grave you have no hold on me!’ In the face of Satan’s advances and strongholds, we are declaring life. With a confidence that is not our own, we can stand in the face of death and not only proclaim life but demand it.
Nick, great word. I’m claiming that for my town as well. Thanks for being obediant to what Jesus has called you to do. You are truly a blessing.
