This morning we will be celebrating the life of my grandmother, Lois Kasparek, at her funeral in Irwin, PA. For obvious reasons it’s a sad day, but in many respects it is a glorious day. Glorious in the fact that she lived a life of character, joy and love. She was a woman of God who loved people every day of her life and modeled what it means to be godly for each of her 3 children, 7 grandchildren and now 5 great-grandchildren. I feel so blessed to be given such a godly heritage as I have with both my grandmother and late grandfather, Frank Kasparek. A passage of scripture that embodies the life of my grandmother is that of Proverbs 31:25-28:
“She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.“
I pray that one day my life will the same as both of my grandparents. A life that is full of accomplishment, but is celebrated not for its accomplishment but for its character.
