There are numerous books, conferences and podcasts that address various issues of how to be successful in ministry. I’ve read many of those books, attended conferences and I even follow the podcasts. Through these resources, I have gleaned a lot of wisdom and insight, but that hasn’t been the most valuable lesson I’ve learned about ministry. There is one thing that will ultimately determine my success as a minister. Everything I do or don’t do hinges on this one thing. My success as a minister, or even as a follower of Christ, is dependent on my answer to this one question: “How are you and Jesus?”
You may be striving for success and asking yourself how to be more effective. Before you dive into all the different books and learn valuable ministry principles, I’d like to ask you today: “How are you and Jesus?”
