The concept of having humility in ministry seems kind of obvious, but can actually be rather difficult. Ministers are often in front of everyone, leading the masses toward Christ – while this is a great task, the great difficulty can be to remain humble.
I would define humility as the realization of where you stand and who has placed you there. It’s not a denial or degrading of who you are – it’s keeping things in perspective. The tool to maintaining proper perspective is gratitude. Having gratitude for your reality will most often result in humility.
During this season of the year we often look back and are grateful, but let’s strive to maintain that gratitude throughout the year. Because as we are grateful as ministers, humility won’t be something we have to force, it will flow from our lives naturally.
