The Word Became Flesh

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
(John 1:14)

This week I’ve been praying through this one verse and just wanted to share some thoughts I’ve had on this great passage:

Think for a moment of this incredible act:  the power and presence of an Almighty God to take the form of flesh. And this act is further magnified by the fact that Jesus not only made His dwelling among us, but that he continues to do so.

Two-thousand years ago ‘The Word’ became flesh, but in 2009 ‘The Word’ continues to become flesh through us. The same power and presence that made itself known in John 1 makes itself known today. Others now see His glory through us. We are the incarnation of Christ in this world.

As awe-inspiring as it is to think the all-powerful God thought so much of us to limit Himself and take on flesh on our behalf, that love continues for this desperate world. And He continues to take on flesh and dwell among us for His glory and this world’s redemption.
