Security in Church

Growing up as a pastor’s kid, I would have never guessed there would be a need for security in church.  However, with recent situations (Mount Hope Church, Maryville First Baptist Church), the need for security during weekend services is becoming more and more vital.  I’ve seen this issue being addressed at different churches in different ways, but I’d be interested in hearing what your church is doing to create a safe environment during your weekend services?

  1. We have a church security team as well as a church medical team in place. Our church has a church security manual, policies and procedures, and conducts training from time to time.

Although I am not sure how this could have been prevented (most ambushes are hard to prevent). People reacted quickly to prevent additional bloodshed and murder.
